PRINCE2 COURSES

Achieve organisational growth and enhance careers through PRINCE2 qualifications

PRINCE2 is one of the most widely used methods in the world for managing projects. It is structured and uses the experience gained from thousands of projects and contributions from numerous project professionals and academics.

It is also adaptable meaning that it can be used on any project regardless of type, scale or complexity.

Achieving PRINCE2 certification empowers professionals to use a competent, best practice, and process-based approach to project delivery. And, importantly, it  contributes to their continuing professional development.

PRINCE2

PRINCE2 is examined at two levels: Foundation and Practitioner

The PRINCE2 method is made up of five integrated elements that candidates must know.

The courses fully explain the following:

The five integrated elements:

  • PRINCE2 principles

  • People

  • PRINCE2 practices

  • PRINCE2 processes

  • The project context

 . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The PRINCE2 principles The PRINCE2 principles are the guiding obligations and good practices which determine whether the project is genuinely being managed using PRINCE2. There are seven principles and unless all of them are applied, it is not a PRINCE2 project. PRINCE2 is a flexible method in how it can be used for any given project and the principles enable the project management team to decide how PRINCE2 will be used on their project. The seven PRINCE2 principles are: • Ensure continued business justification • Learn from experience • Define roles, responsibilities, and relationships • Manage by stages • Manage by exception • Focus on products • Tailor to suit the project The PRINCE2 practices The PRINCE2 practices describe aspects of project management that must be applied consistently and throughout the project life cycle. The seven practices require the specific treatment of that aspect of project management for the PRINCE2 processes to be effective. The seven PRINCE2 practices are: • Business case • Organizing • Plans • Quality • Risk • Issues • Progress The PRINCE2 processes The PRINCE2 processes describe a structured set of activities that define the sequence of actions and their inputs and outputs to achieve a specific objective. The seven PRINCE2 processes are: • Starting up a project • Directing a project • Initiating a project • Controlling a stage • Managing product delivery • Managing a stage boundary • Closing a project The project context The principles, practices, and processes are applied by the people involved to ensure that the method is fit for the project context. PRINCE2 can be applied to the following common contexts: - Organizational context - Commercial context - Delivery method - Sustainability context - Scale

What happens to the PRINCE2 certification after three years?

All PeopleCert's global best practice qualifications must now be renewed after three years.

What this means is that three years after passing PRINCE2 exam(s), learners need to recertify or a note will be added next to their name in the successful candidate register (opt-in public listing of successful Axelos examination candidates), stating that certification needs to be renewed to align with current certification requirements.

Key dates:

If a learner passed their exam(s) before 30th June 2020 they have until 1 July 2023 to renew.

If a learner passed their exam(s) after 30th June 2020 they need to renew within three years of the date they passed.

How can the PRINCE2 certification be renewed?

There are three renewal paths

Retake the same exam

Retake the original exam before the renewal date

Take further courses and certifications

Attend another course and take an exam within the same product suite (ITIL 4®; Project, Programme & Portfolio Management; AgileSHIFT®, RESILIA®) before the renewal date

Track continuing professional development

Collect and log continuing professional development (CPD) points

Current MyAXELOS subscribers can continue to log their CPD points, as before.
